Japan retail investors pour $2.3 billion into fund investing in N. America

Japanese retail investors poured about $2.3 billion in a mutual fund that mainly invests in U.S., Mexican and Canadian shares, the biggest subscription since October 2006, a distributor of the fund, SMBC Nikko Securities, said on Thursday.

The country’s third-largest money manager, Nikko Asset Management, launched the Japan domiciled fund, called Nikko Gravity Americas Fund, which attracted 200.1 billion yen ($2.3 billion) at the launch – the third biggest subscription ever.

Statoil expands its exploration portfolio in Brazil

Statoil is expanding its exploration portfolio through the acquisition of 25% participating interest from Vale SA in BM-ES-22A in the Espirito Santo Basin offshore Brazil.

BM-ES-22A is comprised of the two Blocks ES-M-468 and ES-M-527. Petrobras is the operator with 75% equity and Vale holds a 25% share. It is located in the Outer Espirito Santo Basin partially adjacent to the BM-ES-32 license where Statoil is partner and which holds the Indra discovery.

“The acquisition allows Statoil to expand its position in a prioritised basin for Statoil. The position is in line with Statoil’s exploration strategy of deepening core areas”, says Nick Maden, senior vice president, Exploration International.

SBA Communications Announces Acquisition of 800 Towers in Brazil

SBA Communications Corporation (Nasdaq:SBAC) (“SBA” or the “Company“) announced today it has launched operations in Brazil and on December 20, 2012, acquired 800 freestanding wireless towers from one of the leading broadband wireless carriers in Brazil. The consideration for the acquisition is R$362.8 million payable from cash on hand and borrowings under the Company’s Revolving Credit Facility. SBA expects these assets will produce approximately R$19 to R$23 million in Tower Cash Flow for the full calendar year 2013 and be immediately accretive to AFFO per share.

Hermes Pardini vai às compras para faturar R$1 bi, diz Valor

São Paulo – A rede mineira de laboratórios Hermes Pardini vai investir em aquisições de concorrentes para atingir um faturamento de 1 bilhão de reais até 2015, de acordo com o jornal Valor Econômico.

Se a cifra for alcançada, significará dobrar as receitas obtidas neste ano, de 500 milhões de reais. O número representa um acréscimo de 90 milhões sobre o registrado em 2011.

Segundo o jornal, a Hermes Pardini vai buscar aquisições em duas frentes: laboratórios especializados em exames por imagem, como ressonâncias e tomografias, e laboratórios de análisesgenéticas.

Vale vende fatia em bloco de óleo e gás por US$40 mi à Statoil

RIO DE JANEIRO, 26 Dez (Reuters) – A Vale anunciou nesta quarta-feira acordo para venda de sua participação de 25 por cento da concessão BM-ES-22A, na Bacia do Espírito Santo, à Statoil por 40 milhões de dólares à vista.

A mineradora disse que a venda a isenta de obrigações de investimento de cerca de 80 milhões de dólares até o fim de 2013, segundo comunicado.
